Hi, I am Heather Witherspoon, one of the site editors and featured bloggers here on mom2momdfw.com. My bio will certainly not end up on the New York Times Best Seller list but if I did write my memoirs they will be titled Food on my shirt with the follow-up S*#! On my shoes!

I was born in 1971 in Denver, Colorado and moved to Texas when I was 6 years old. My younger brother died when I was 9. More on this topic to come in my blog.

I grew up in Garland (think King of the Hill). I was lucky/talented enough, and my parents paid tuition, (shout out to mom and dad) to attend the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Arts Magnet) in Dallas. I attended college for graphic design and illustration and after several “typical post college jobs” I went to work for a small graphics company that gave me the opportunity to learn graphic software and print production.

After several years there, I was presented with the opportunity to work for The Dallas Morning News for a 3 month contract “with the hopes they would like and hire me”. Well, I was hired and as far as I know “liked”. In 1998 I met my now husband at The Blue Goose restaurant (not a bar but very near the bar) on Greenville in Dallas.

After we were married my husband’s job took us to Lubbock. One year later we moved back to the DFW area and I started my career at the Star-Telegram as a page designer/illustrator.

8 years and 2 kids later I am making my way into the world of blogging and web design. My husband and I have been married 8 years June 3rd and we have two beautiful daughters Brit (2), Emerson (5) and 2 miniature Australian shepherds Lucky and Penny (we love them but 2 kids, 2 puppies, new house = worst idea of 2007)

I am looking forward to sharing our experiences of raising two daughters and the chaos that follows. This fall we will be starting Kindergarten, working on potty training and getting rid of pacifiers. Cold glass of beer anyone?
