A cool playdate
Yesterday my son and I met a couple of his friends at the park to play... and the best part about it, the weather.
See my son's friend's grandmother had the best idea... an evening at the park.
Instead of melting in the Texas heat during the day (or even in the sticky, hot morning), we met at 7 in the evening. It was really nice. Not that the kids didn't sweat, come on, they're kids... they run, they sweat. But a couple of water breaks and a stroll through the trees kept them cool enough.
I had a nice visit with the other parents, and didn't walk away drenched. We're even talking about taking the boys to Six Flags in evening in the coming weeks, to beat the crowds and the heat.
So if you're not in a cool pool playing with your kids, consider a little later in the day to play.
