Favorite Santas

Here comes Santa Claus....

When we lived in the Forth Worth area we loved to make a day of visiting Santa Downtown in Sundance Square. After lunch we would walk in anticipation to the larger than life Christmas tree where his sleigh sits. We are looking forward to the continuing the tradition with our youngest in tow this year. The best part is there's never been a wait and and a photos is a $5.oo charitable donation.

Our favorite Santa is the one at Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine.  He is great and the kids love the stuffed deer that pull his sleigh.  Last year we even took our puppy for the picture and Santa had treats for Count Olaf.

If you can make it out to Northpark Center Mall in Dallas, the Santa is wonderful!  It is best to get there early and go straight to Santa's house (near Neiman Marcus) to pick up your line number, then go visit the wonderful train exhibit while you wait.  There are several other holiday activities;  here is the link: http://www.northparkcenter.com/events/eventscalendar.html

I completely agree about the Northpark Santa!  This will be our 6th time to go and wouldn't miss him!

Something to think about to save you time having to roam the mall for hours once you get that number ticket is to get there on your own (Grammie usually does this for us!) about 8:00 am, or earlier, to get in line to get your number.  Take your coffee and something to read.  Then go home and get the kiddos ready.  This way you will be one of the first (we usually are in the single digits, maybe in the teens) to visit Santa right after story time with him and then can see the awesome holiday sights and activities of the mall.   The kids will be a lot fresher for their pictures this way!  Doing this does require a team effort with someone home with the kids, but speaking from experience it can help a lot.

I learned the hard way...Our first year (with a 3 month old), I went thinking I was "early" getting there shortly after they started giving out the numbers and ended up being 100 and something.  That meant walking around for about 5 hours until we finally got to see him.   There are a lot of things to do and see there, but 5 hours, or more, for kids (and us) can be too long!

It is a bit of a hassle getting out there before the mall opens and then going back to get the kdis, but it is SO worth it in the end!   He has been voted one of the best in the country!  No fake beard, or stuffing on this guy!

My favorite Santa has always been the one at Northeast Mall in the HEB area... and I was excited that I finally had a child to take there to have a picture made last year! We'll definitely be going back this year!

And last year we went on a mid-week day kind of early (before lunch). If you can swing it, that's what I could recommend!
