First Birthday...sigh
It's hard to imagine that I'm already thinking about my baby girls first birthday, but it's now less than two months away.
I'm kind of torn on the whole first-birthday party thing. I know she will have no idea what all the fuss is about, but at the same time, there's no way we could not celebrate it!
I'm thinking it'll be more just friends and family getting together for burgers and celebrating the joy that Breleigh has been for her first year.
I also think it'll be a celebration of the fact that my husband and I made it through our first year as parents! Yay! (Breleigh has made it pretty easy though!)
Any good first birthday gift ideas out there? What was your 1-year-olds favorite toy to play with?
I'm also looking for a good and somewhat healthy birthday cake recipe... she's hasn't really had any sweets and I don't want to overload her with sugar and have her sick the first week of the second year of her life! Any ideas?

Mercedes:
My little girl's favorite one-year-old gift was the Fisher Price Piggy Bank. He is is cute, fat, pink pig that comes with giant (non-swallow-able) coins to fit in the slot. He counts and sings songs each time she successfully inserts a coin. Then, the coins fall out the bottom and make her giggle. It's a great toy and the counting is sure to help, later!
Thinking of how she loved Daddy's tissue paper from his Father's Day gift, I think you're right -- she'll probably love all the boxes and things better than anything! (and the company, too!)
Educational toys are always a great idea, and she already loves books. Maybe we can get her a couple of "special" books to mark the occasion!
The wheels are turning... thanks for your help!
All four of our children on their first birthdays played more with the boxes and wrapping then any toy they recieved! We only buy educational toys even as they get older ie how to build a birdhouse. Our last baby had her first birthday last year and I think she truly just enjoyed playing with everyone. Good luck!
