A great first year
We're officially into the second year of Breleigh's life. It's hard to believe she's 1 already. It really was surreal singing Happy Birthday to her, watching her look around with amazement that all those people were looking at her and singing! She looked at me, looked around, then looked up at her daddy with the sweetest face that I'll never forget!
I am so lucky to have such a sweet, happy, friendly and busy little girl. I am loving being a mom more than I ever imagined and I'm so proud of her each and every day.
Ok, now that all that sappy stuff is out of the way, I'd like to get into a few moments of her first year that I'll never forget...
*The first time I heard her laugh. I really didn't know if it was a laugh or not. I was singing and being silly while she was propped into a sitting position on our bed. She started smiling and making this goofy noise -- which was laughing -- that was so funny that I started cracking up with her...
*Our first night home from the hospital. We put her straight in the crib, no pack-n-play or bassinet. She didn't really want to have anything to do with it. I thought, 'Oh my gosh! We bought the wrong mattress, we'll have to get a whole new bed -- she doesn't like it!' We were wrong, and she still sleeps better in that crib than anywhere else...
*The day the people came by to take her picture in the hospital. We brought a cute outfit for her to wear and my husband was in charge of changing her since I could barely stand after a c-section. About 10 minutes before the lady was scheduled to come by, he started changing her and I started having contraction-like pain. My husband was flustered because I was in pain and needed a nurse and he couldn't get her shirt on (she was so fragile!!!)... so he handed her to me -- screaming -- with her shirt pulled over her face since he couldn't get it down over her head! I thought she was going to suffocate...
*The first time Breleigh started clapping. She would hold her left hand still against her shoulder and move her right hand back and forth in a clapping motion. It was too cute...
*The first time she really interacted with our dog, Alex. He was laying on the floor by us and started barking. She thought it was hilarious, he was cracking her up! He also got the first couple of steps out of her... she went for him unaided to give him a 'pat-pat' a couple of weeks ago. And he got the first two-word phrase... when she sees him lately, she says, 'Hi, boy!' Melt my heart...
And there are so many more...
Happy Birthday sweet girl. Mommy loves you!

What a great time in your life. Keep this blog post and put it in her baby book. It's just about the sweetest thing I've read.
