The MOM Top 5...

I know in true David Letterman fashion,  I should make this into a Top 10... but I'll go with a "High Fidelity"-like top five instead, plus, I'm hoping you can help me out (remember, I have momnesia). Here's a list of the Top Five Things I've Noticed I Now Do and Can Do Since Becoming a Mom (for lack of a better title :) )...

5. Mom's Rock! No, literally... you all know what I'm talking about. You rock back and forth (or do whatever cadence works for your little one!) even when you're not holding your baby/kid out of habit and also to comfort them... I've done this about a million times...

4. Open Wide! I find myself opening my mouth wide when I want Breleigh to open her mouth wide to take a bite of food! I guess I'm trying to will her mouth open, but it just doesn't seem to work that way...

3. B-I-N-G-O! (Insert whatever children's song you'd like here ___) It's amazing how quickly moms can learn songs from their childs toys/TV shows/movies! And I find myself singing them in the most awkward places (read: when I'm not with my child!). The latest for me is the "Hot Dog" song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Warning: It's catchy and addictive...

2. Bodybuilder: The way I can twist, bend and contort to lift and do things with one hand (while holding my daughter in the other arm, of course) could become an Olympic Sport... I can medicate and feed the dog and get him water while holding her, and I think my record is carrying in 8 grocery bags into the house while carrying her... this might drastically decrease soon, though, since she's approaching 20 lbs.

1. The Count! Before I became pregnant, I would ask expectant mothers how far along they were, and they'd always respond in weeks... 18 weeks, 27 weeks, etc. I'd always ask them to put that into non-preggo terms. Same goes for newborn babies. Me: "How old?" Them: "Oh, she's 9 weeks, three days, 5 hours and 16 minutes!" OK, so that's a little exaggerated... but now, I can count weeks with the best of them...

So, I'm interested to see what you find yourself doing now that you are pregnant and/or have kids! Feel free to add to my list (I'm sure we can all relate!)...

Mercedes, those are all so funny and true!! I love the Hot Dog song, btw.

Here's one thing I notice myself doing: (mis)pronouncing and (mis)using words the same way my 4-year-old does. Example, when he's trying to ask politely for something, he says, "May you please get me a glass of milk?" So now, I'm always saying to my husband, "May you please do the dishes/get me some ice cream/rub my back/etc." Or, I'll do the always nice "I runned out of gas" or "I winned the game," both of which start to sound correct after your kid has said them that way so many times, but always embarrassing when you accidentally do it in front of other adults, like at work or something.
