My KISS moment

I was looking through photos of KISS the other day as part of a work assignment. You remember KISS, right? Big hair. Lots of makeup. Platform boots. Not-so-good rock anthems.

These photos were from some recent shows. The band was showing signs of wear. Shimmery white foundation and catsuits can't hide jowls and a paunch.

Anyway, so while looking at these photos of wretched excess I became, um, strangely aroused.

No! I thought. This is wrong. I'm a mom and these guys were popular way before I came of age. Shake it off.

But Paul Stanley's chest and pert chin beckoned. It's nice how his outfit shows off his chest and ... enough!

I comforted myself that at least it wasn't Gene Simmons. Never Gene Simmons. I can't stand him since he acted (was it really acting?) the boor on Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" radio show. Not like he was the cat's meow before then.

I'm scaring myself.

I fear the next work assignment will involve Motley Crue or Van Halen.

Lord, help me.

I've had many KISS moments myself, one especially that I always remember - it involved the Family Jewels leader, Mr. Simmoms himself. He's not exactly an attractive man, his hair is even weirder than Donald Trump and he is cocky and arrogant. But there is still something about him - AHHHHHH! But then again, I've always loved KISS! I got KISS's Double Platinum record on my 11th birthday from a really cool, hip friend that stole it from her dad. That's when I got hooked! I wanted to be Beth, the chic Paul and the boys left at home while they were out trying to get their song right. Shut up, you know you wanted to be her too! Their Animalize concert was not only my first concert ever at 13, but also when the band first performed without make-up. Ohm the memories. Paul Stanley was smokin' hot then, now he just looks ridiculous. Damn, it sucks getting older . . . or does it???? Glad the 80's are over!

It's ok, you don't need therapy. I can't help but still swoon when I hear a big hair band ballad on the radio. Makes me feel like I'm 15 again. And these guys don't go away. I think the scariest evidence of this was Sebestian Bach's  (Skid Row's lead singer) multiple appearances on the Gilmore Girls. Even scarier that I recognized it was him.
