Oh the weather outside

... is beautiful!! I love this time of year, when the mornings are cool but the afternoons perfect. I even finally got a chance to work in the yard yesterday (of course, my allergies are paying for it now!).

In the Spring, we realized how much Breleigh loves to be outside... seems like all kids do, right? We extended that into our eating out. Especially since the inside of some places is just too noisy and there's way too much over-stimulation for kids.

So, in honor of the beautiful, outdoor-eating-type weather we're having, here's the list I started last Spring of places that are around the Downtown Fort Worth/TCU area where there's a nice patio to eat at. We haven't tried all of the patios yet, but maybe eventually we will.

Please feel free to add your favorite places in your part of town!

Gloria's has a delicious mix of Tex-Mex and El Salvadorian food. The Montgmery Plaza location has a nice patio.

Pei Wei is an Asian Diner that's an off-shoot (more casual, chaper) of P.F. Changs, which also has a patio at its downtown location.

Railhead has delicious bar-b-q, and the patio is big and shaded most of the day.

Across the street from Railhead is Flying Fish, which has a patio in the front that is mostly picnic tables. (As for the food, the name says it all -- mostly fish, although I'm not a fish eater and they have a pretty good Chicken Po Boy).

One of my favorites is always Blue Mesa Grill, which has really good Southwestern food (and delicious sweet potato chips -- bet you can't eat just one!). The patio can get pretty crowded during Happy Hour, especially on Friday's.

Hoffbrau is a casual steakhouse on University Drive that's a good bet, and it's right by Panera Bread, a soup, salad and sandwich place that also has yummy baked goodies. Panera has just a few tables out front.

And for good pizza, try Mellow Mushroom on Bluebonnet Circle. They have a nice patio with heaters and coolers, depending on the weather (at least they did the last time I was there).

La Madeleine and Jason's Deli on Camp Bowie both have some tables out front, too.

Central Market is a good stand by. There's always fresh food there and the patio area is huge and has a playground... they even have live music most Friday and Saturday nights (sometimes Thursday, too)... but you probably already know this since this place is so popular!
