Organic milk vs. regular milk
As far as I can tell the jury is still out on whether organic milk is healthier than regular milk.
Some of my friends (including my husband) do not think there is enough solid evidence to warrant paying double for our kids to drink organic milk. I on the other hand think, it couldn’t hurt. For us, a family of four, I have estimated it will cost an extra $12.00 a month for 4 gallons @ $6.50 a gallon. I know that in these tough economic times that extra cost may not be an option for some. That being said, I have found coupons in the Sunday paper, some websites offer coupons when you create an account and many grocery stores also have periodic sales on organic products as well.
Another cost-effective option: Braum’s Fresh Market sells their own brand of milk that is not treated with rGBH (Genetically-engineered bovine growth hormone) and their cows are not trated with antibiotics. The cost : $3.59 a gallon!!! The same cost if not less than regular milk. So anytime I am near Braum’s I pick up several gallons.

I buy organic milk for my daughter, but regular milk for my husband and me. I figure the damage has already been done to us! It may not make any difference, but who knows what scientists will discover in 20 years? And whether it contributes to girls hitting puberty at ages 9 and 10?
I spoke with my children’s pediatrician regarding this topic. Their pediatrician told me there hasn’t been anything proven one way or the other and she’s fine with me getting whatever milk I want. That being said, I’ve bought my milk exclusively from Braum’s for almost two years now and I plan on continuing to do so.
