Project Runway anyone?
Is anyone else excited about the premiere of the new season of Project Runway? Even though I'm glad to see the show start up again, I'm bummed because there's been reports that the show may move to Los Angeles next season and to a different network. That could mean it's Auf! Chat with me about the show!

EPISODE 14: THE FINALE - It was amazing to have the 3 female finalists (a first for the show!) at New York Fashion Week. I think all of their collections looked fabulous. But as noted on previous posts, Kenley seemed to be on the outs with the judges. And again, they mentioned that her looks are similar to recent looks by other fashion designers. She's either lying and doesn't have an original thoughtful (doubtful) or she really doesn't pay attention to what others do (more likely). Kenley is so much about Kenley that I really think she's oblivious to the fashion world. And I'm glad she didn't end up as the winner. As for Korto, I thought her line was beautiful and would love for her to design a dress for me, but Leanne did stand out. Her collection was cohesive, classy, and couture. She deserved to win! Does anyone disagree?

EPISODE 13: ALWAYS THE BRIDESMAID...(PART 1 OF FINALE): The four designers went home to create their 10 fashions for New York Fashion Week and to complete 1 more challenge: a wedding dress that represents them and their line. They had $8,000 to for their line + wedding dress. Tim Gunn went on his requisite visits to the designers' hometowns. First up, Korto who created a line inspired by nature. Her colorful clothes looked amazing, but her wedding dress looked more like a couture wannabe than a dress that you'd walk down the aisle in. Next up, Leanne who decided that her focal line would be waves. Very Leanne, but not surprising, and her wedding gown did look gorgeous. Then, it was off to LA to visit Jerell - may fave, so far. His collection made me wonder - "Oh, no; another Michael? Is going to choke in the last episode." Last but not least, Tim visited Kenley who vowed to be less bitchy, and managed to pull off a stunning wedding dress. When the designers got back to NY, they were hit by the worst news: they had final, final challenge to create a bridesmaid dress to accompany their wedding dress. Yikes! Leanne and Kenley were able to pull it off stunningly. However, Korto and Jerell had a difficult time. I think Korto shouldn't have turned her bridesmaid dress
into the wedding dress. Jerell was just a mess, and his designs looked like it. Of course, I think not giving him an automatic "in" after winning the final challenge before the final, final challenge really hurt him and boosted Kenley. Her designs were stunning and unexpected from her. No florals, no 50s-inspired look, but Michael Kors mentioned that Kenley's designs were eerily similar to Alexander McQueen collection recently shown at Paris Fashion Week. Here are photos of the McQueen wedding dress next to Kenley's creation. What do you think?

EPISODE 12: NATURAL SELECTION - Wow! Kenley got away with another horrible dress! It's too bad that the three other designers weren't impeccable because if they all has been on, I'm sure Kenley with her attitude would be gone by now. With floral and fauna as the inspiration for this week's challenge, you would think that Kenley and Korto would have knocked this out of the park. Instead, Jerrell sort-of won and no won lost. They all get to create a collection for Bryant Park (although if you kept up with Fashion Week, you already know that final 6 designers presented collections this year - I guess to keep the public guessing as to who the winner is). The twist is that after presenting the collections to the judges, one of them will be eliminated from the competition so only three will move forward. I'm still a big fan of Jerrell and Korto! Hope they go all the way!

EPISODE 11: ROCK N RUNWAY - What is Kenley thinking? She's a good designer and would be better if she would just listen to the judges and Tim Gunn. I can't believe she insulted him with her attitude and her ugly hip-hop outfit. But I must say, she did look hot as a Britney wannabe. But I loved that Korto finally won a challenge! Her and Jerrell are my picks for Top 2. Leanne could also pull it off, but Kenley can go bye-bye. So, sorry The Suede had to go, but his third-person references were getting tired.
So, who is your fave to win?

EPISODE 10: TRANSFORMATION - The assignment was to transform college-age girls to working women. Deservedly, Joe was kicked out for his boring suit and Jerrell won again! I think I spot a winner!

Episode 9: What's Your Sign? The designers had to come up with a design inspired by a Zodiac sign. Surprise! Some of the designers who were already kicked off return to help the remaining contestants. I'm not sure what's going on with Kenley. I really don't understand why everything has to be a 50s throwback. I think she's a great designer, but if she doesn't check herself she won't last to the finale. However, she was not the designer to be ousted. Second surprise! Two were eliminated: Blayne who "pooped" fabric and Terri who just didn't want to work with poor, sensitive Keith. Jerrell keeps stepping up his game....watch for him to make it all the way to Bryant Park!

EPISODE 8: DOUBLE O FASHION -- This is the kind of episode that makes me wish I was a lot more creative and talented. How awesome would it be to design for Diane Von Furstenberg?!
I loved most of the designs and you can definitely tell that the designers were stepping it up for the fashion icon. LeAnn's elegant dress and jacket was top notch, but I absolutley adored Korto's dress and jacket and would have loved to see her witn the challenge.
Right now, my faves to make it to Bryant Park: Korto, LeAnn, Blayne and Jerrell. Who are your faves?

EPISODE 7 : FASHION THAT DRIVES YOU--I think it would have been much more interesting if the designers were able to tear apart those new cars, but I'm sure the sponsor had a say in that. Overall, the designs were quite tasteful, but it would have been nice if they had provided a greater color palette for the materials instead of black, pink and white. I loved LeAnn's winning cocktail dress -- so chic, although I would like a pumpkin in it. Keith had been struggling for so long now...I felt bad for him cuz he wanted it so bad, but he was pretty inconsistent.

EPISODE 6: GOOD QUEEN FUN -- With the start of school and my stepson's football season, I'm now trying to catch up with all of my favorite shows. I'm soooo glad that Daniel has finally been kicked off the show. He was always talking about his great design taste, but didn't really deliver (except for that first challenge). I wish I could fit in to that hot pink jumpsuit that Keith designed. Awesome!

I don't really understand why they insist on keeping Daniel. He's really clueless. It was a really horrible outfit, but he couldn't even get a skirt together in 8 hours!
OMG!! I am so glad to find others who are so interested in the show! All of my ex-co workers would have no idea on what I was talking about...I have seen every season so far. My fiance and I would have PR Nights where no matter what we were doing or where we were we had to be home on time to watch the new episode (eventhough we have dvr!) He would get so into the show he would argue with the judges! He, for some reason did not like Nina Garcia at all.. it was soo funny...Now I have to record the shows and watch them when my little one is sleeping so I can see it all in one piece. I think the designers this season are not as creative as the ones from previous seasons, or maybe its been that the challenges haven't been really good...except for the drag queen one...I have to say it was about time that Daniel left the show! He should have gone home a loooonnngg time ago before the blonde girl. Ok..i have to stop now b/c I could go for hours talking about this subject.. until next time...ciao
I have to say, this has been a weak season so far. Not too impressed by anyone.. but I'm still rooting for Leanne, even if others strongly disagree with me.. though Kelli and Terri are showing they've got some talent.
Terri has been runner-up for two weeks in a row. What's up with that? She rocks and is the strongest competitor of the season thus far.
I love Apolo Ohno; he's such a cutey. I'm not sure if he's the most stylish Olympian as Heidi said. But I did love all three of the top outfits. I can't believe Daniel made it through again. His outfit was horrible and while his opponent's dress wasn't quite right for the challenge, it was much cuter and better crafted.

The designers finally got to shop for material so we got to see some truly inspired creations, but I must disagree with the judges' choice for winner of the challenge. I thought that was one ugly dress. Anyone else?

I really liked the dress that won. I turned to my husband and said "is that guy talking in third person" I can't stand that! It borders on crazy in my opinion. Note to Suede, quit it. I am not all that impressed with the design so far but I will give a couple of designers credit for working with fabrics that they would have never picked. I really thought models might know a bit about fashion since they are around it so often.
Yes, your read it correctly, I actually got my husband to watch the show with me. I made my case with the fact that every night I watch the taped version of "College football tonight" before we go to bed. Don't get me wrong I love college football but....from here until the National Cahmpionship game it will be on 24/7 in our house.

Wow, some of the dresses were really ugly last night. But I felt bad for the two designers on the chopping block because they basically got denigrated bacause of their models who has no fashion sense.
I love Natalie Portman; she's so adorable, but I wish they had introduced her earlier like they did with Sarah Jessica Parker and other celebs in previos seasons. I thinkg this gives the designers more incentive to make it work.
I looked on the bluefly.com site to see if Suede's dress was up for sale, but couldn't find it. Poor marketing on Runway's part to not have immediate info on when the dress would be made available on bluefly or the Runway web site.
Btw, the Leather Lady has to go....

I finally watched last weeks episode just in time to catch up for tomorrow. Like Kim this is my weekly "must see", especially since "Lost" is not currently on. We will have to see how this cast shapes up...so far only a few stand out for me, especially in their "fierceness"....the tablecloths were awful...some of the dresses looked like you could eat bar-b-que off of them. Looking forward to tomorrow night!!!! Does anyone else love Tim Gunn as much as I do?
I Love Tim Gunn too! He was in the Dallas area last year for a fashion show and a friend of mine was able to meet him. Her Christmas Card was of her and Tim!
This is my FAVORITE show. It's the one time during the week that the rest of my family has to figure out how to fend for themselves while I enjoy some "tv candy." SO glad it's back.
I just watched it for the first time ever, and I think I'm hooked. Even my husband enjoyed it. We really liked the dress made from the blue plastic cups. And yeah, that trash bag dress -- that girl should have gone home!
Did any of these folks watch past seasons? What's up with all of the tablecloths? Even though I was rooting for my Asian bro, Jerry, I knew he was ready to get sent home with his serial killer rainwear. And doesn't this design from his Form collection look like anything we've seen...omg, it's the serial killer outfit in black!
But seriously, the trashy trashbag dress was something I could have put together.
It's going to be a fierce season!

Heck ya! I have watched every season. This one had better be FIERCE! Not excited about the LA move. Love it in NYC. Can't wait to chat about it since I have not figured out a way for my husband to care about a fashion design contest! Shocking right?
